Start Your Project with Confidence

Creating a kitchen that is beautifully designed, sustainably made, and effortlessly functional begins with a clear and thoughtful design process. At Sustique, we keep things simple: a free initial consultation, followed by a single comprehensive design service that’s fully credited when you order your kitchen.

1 - Free Design Consultation

A relaxed 45 - 60 minute conversation — by phone, video call, at the NSBRC, or at The Building Centre — to understand your project and explore whether we’re the right fit for each other.

What we cover:

  • Your project vision, layout ideas, and key requirements
  • Materials, sustainability goals, and VOC considerations
  • The differences between Miinus and Engineered ranges
  • Lead times, installation planning, and budget guidance
  • How our design process works and what you can expect

There’s no obligation and no cost — just an opportunity for clarity.

2 - The Sustique Design Service - £1,000*

Once you’re ready to explore your kitchen in detail, our design service provides everything needed to visualise your space, evaluate options, and move confidently toward an order.

What’s included:

  • Full project briefing
  • Confirmation of space dimensions, from an Architect drawing, or from a site survey. On-site surveys depend on location and overall project status.
  • Detailed layout plan.
  • Accurate, scaled elevations.
  • Design illustrations.
  • Appliance, sink, tap, and worktop recommendations.
  • Material and colour specification across your chosen range.
  • Material and colour samples.
  • Up to 3 rounds of design revisions. This is typically more than enough if requirements don't totally change.
  • Full quotation, including value-engineered alternatives if helpful.
  • Project-specific advice on sustainability, VOC emissions, ventilation, and durability.
  • Secure access to your personal Sustique Customer Portal for drawings, materials, and comments.
  • Remote or face-to-face presentations of your design. Face-to-face consultations happen at our NSBRC and Building Centre locations.

This is a professional design package. Unlike many retailers, it is not tied to a sale. You receive a complete and fully usable design, whether or not you proceed.

*Your design fee is credited back, if you order your kitchen from Sustique. The credit is applied to your final invoice.

Why We Charge a Design Fee

Great kitchen design takes time, expertise, and technical understanding — especially when working with sustainable materials, ultra-low-VOC products, and systems as advanced as the Puustelli Miinus SmartFrame.

Charging a design fee ensures:

  • You receive genuine, impartial advice
  • We commit the time needed to get the design right
  • Our designs can be used universally — not tied to a sales tactic
  • You get premium-level service from day one

Most customers proceed with their order, and their design fee is fully credited.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the design fee refundable?

It’s fully credited against your kitchen order. If you choose not to proceed, you keep the full design package, but the fee is not refunded.

How long does the design take?

This largely depends on you, but we find most designs are completed within 2-4 weeks. Making decisions is the number one reason why designs can take longer.

Can I use the design to get quotes elsewhere?

Absolutely. The design fee covers the professional time required to produce a complete, accurate design. The design we do will enable you to get like-for-like quotes.

What if I already have Architect’s drawings or a kitchen plan?

We can work from them. We’ll still need the design fee, as we produce our own scaled drawings and specify materials accurately. Remember, our design fee is fully credited against your order, if you place an order with us.

Do you design other rooms?

Yes. If a room requires fitted cabinetry we can design it. This includes utilities, walk-in pantries, boot rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, offices, and even garages.
